What is Alpha?

We encourage everyone to join our Madison Community Alpha group at least once! Alpha gives everyone the opportunity to explore the meaning of life in a relaxed, friendly setting. Everyone is welcome to contribute their opinions and no question is considered hostile or too simple.

Questions might include—Is there a God? Why am I here? Where did I come from? Where am I going? Alpha is for anyone and people attend from all backgrounds, religions, and viewpoints. People come to investigate questions about the existence of God, the purpose of life, the afterlife, the claims of Jesus and more.

What happens at Alpha?

Dinner

We start with food because it's a great way to encourage community and get to know each other.

Video

We watch a video designed to engage and inspire conversation. Generally thirty minutes long, they explore the big issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity, addressing questions such as Who is Jesus? and How can we have faith?

Small Groups

Probably the most important part of any Alpha: the chance to share thoughts and ideas on the topic, and simply discuss it in a small group. There’s no obligation to say anything. And there’s nothing you can’t say. It’s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment.
